Sybase Customers and Partners in the Spotlight as 2005 ComputerWorld Honors Laureates SYNOPSIS:
DUBLIN, Calif. – March 30, 2005 – Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and wireless software, today announced that 24 technology partners will be named 2005 Computerworld Honors Laureates and receive a Medal of Achievement. SybaseÒ Laureates from around the world will be recognized as leaders of innovation in nine fields profiled by the program. “The Computerworld Honors Medal of Achievement is presented annually to men and women around the world who have made outstanding progress for society through the visionary use of information technology,” said Patrick J. McGovern, Chairman of the Computerworld Honors Chairmen’s Committee and founder of International Data Group. Sybase Laureates submitted case studies detailing extraordinary solutions utilizing Sybase technology in each of the following categories: Business; Education; Environment/Energy; Agriculture; Finance/Insurance/Real Estate; Government/Non-profit; Transportation; Manufacturing; Medicine; and Science. “The Sybase Laureates continue an outstanding tradition of IT innovation in which service to real people doing important work in the world takes precedence over anything else,” said Executive Director Daniel Morrow. Case studies provided by the Sybase Laureates will be made available to both scholars and the general public online and through a program affiliated with 179 universities, libraries, and research institutions in 27 countries. The 2005 Collection will be archived and serve as primary source material for scholars and as a resource for information technology professionals interested in building solutions that benefit society. Sybase customers and partners have contributed nearly 250 case studies to the archive since it was established in 1988. The Laureates from all divisions will be recognized during a special medal ceremony on April 3, 2005 at the City Hall in San Francisco, marking the donation of their case studies and other historic materials to the world’s libraries. In June, Laureates deemed most outstanding by a panel of distinguished judges will be given special recognition as Worldwide Finalists in ceremonies in Washington, D.C. One Worldwide Finalist from each field will be selected for a 21st Century Achievement Award.
