It opens the way to new products and services that give customers more detailed understanding of their accounts and help them finding ways to make most out of their money.

The open banking service is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and European equivalents, and works with online or mobile banking apps.

Customers can experience it by exploring apps and websites from regulated providers, already using Open Banking to create new services for them.

Sharing data is completely customer's choice. If customer decide to stop sharing data, bank won’t send any more data to the third-party providers (TPP). However, the data bank have shared while customer did give their permission may still be stored by the third party – customer should contact them to understand what they will use it for.

Customer can manage and amend their permission at any time using HBZ web or Mobile banking portal They can also share their bank's data, which they can revert whenever they change their mind.

There are two ways to share data with third-party providers (TPPs).

  • Sharing data through Open Banking
If a registered third party is using Open Banking to access customer data, they’ll always tell customer what data they need, why they need it, and will ask customer to give their permission. They’ll then pass that to the bank, either via HBZ web banking or Mobile banking app, where bank will cater their request and ask the customer to confirm permission. Once permission is granted, bank will share that data with the third party on customer's behalf.

  • Sharing data by giving out log-in details
Outside Open Banking, some providers might ask the customer to share their log-in details as a part of their data sharing solution. If customer decide to give them their details, they will be able to log in to customer account as if they are the customer, which is called screen scraping. This means that the company could access a wider range of information.

Granting permission is prerequisite.

Customer always need to give their explicit permission in web banking or mobile banking app before any data or payment information is shared. If customer decide to share their HBZ account information with another provider, bank always intimate customer exactly what data to be shared.

Once permission is granted, bank will send an email explaining customer's sharing options. Bank will also send a text message to the customer when setting up a new consent or discarding an existing one. If customer receives a text message and don’t have access to web banking or mobile banking, please contact the bank by usual mean.

Customer can always use HBZ web or mobile banking application to check details of the shared data, as well as the payments. It is highly recommended that the customer should check and review permission in definite period.

Historical data of the past payments made using Open Banking can also be accessed through web and mobile banking app.

Open Banking can also be used to make a range of payments directly from your accounts. It’s a new way to pay through third-party apps or websites.

Firstly, the third party will confirm the payment amount and ask if customer wants to pay directly from their bank account. Customer will need to confirm that they have bank with them before proceeding ahead.

Secondly, customer will be passed on to HBZ web or mobile banking portal.

Thirdly, bank will show the summary of the payment, the amount and where customer money will be going – in case of multiple accounts, customer will need to confirm which account to be used.

Finally, once customer have given the permission, the third party will make the payment directly from customer's account.
